Frequently asked questions
What does Retirement Runner do?
Retirement Runner uses cashflow modelling with Monte Carlo projections to show your savings, income and spending year by year through retirement, so you can see whether you're on track. Then it helps you run the plan — calculating your drawdown, tax, and account order each year.
Can I use this if I'm already in drawdown?
Yes. Retirement Runner is built for people in retirement as well as those approaching it — including anyone already taking drawdown — not just those still building up savings.
Is Retirement Runner financial advice?
No. Retirement Runner is a planning, projection and execution tool, not a financial advisory service. It does not make recommendations or provide regulated financial advice. If you need advice specific to your circumstances, or aren't sure how to act on your plan, please see a qualified professional.
Where is my data stored?
All the data you enter — your plan, incomes, balances, and expenses — is stored on your device only. We don't require registration and don't hold a copy of your plan on our servers.
Can I back up or share my plan?
Your current plan can be backed up or shared with another device or person from the settings page. Modern phones also typically back up app data automatically — iCloud on Apple devices, Google One on Android — so your plan is usually covered by those backups too.
Why did my plan health status change?
Plan health reflects two things: updated figures and market conditions since you last checked, and a small amount of natural variance from the Monte Carlo simulation itself. Because outcomes are recalculated across thousands of randomised market scenarios, small movements are normal and expected even when nothing about your plan has changed.
How often is economic and market information updated?
How often is economic and market information updated? Market data behind your projections refreshes daily. Inflation data is updated as official figures are published through the year, so it changes less frequently than market data. Tax rates and bands are updated whenever HMRC changes them.
How do I delete my account or data?
There's nothing to delete on our end. Retirement Runner doesn't use accounts, and we don't hold a copy of your plan or any of your data. If you'd like to remove everything, deleting the app from your device clears all local data.
How do I manage or cancel my Plus subscription?
Retirement Runner Plus is billed and managed through the App Store or Google Play, not directly by us. To view, change, or cancel your subscription, open your device's subscription settings (Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions on iOS, or Google Play > Payments & subscriptions on Android). Cancelling stops future renewals — you keep Plus access until the end of the current billing period.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds for App Store and Google Play purchases are handled by Apple and Google under their own refund policies. Contact Apple or Google support directly to request one.
I found a bug — what do I do?
Please get in touch below with as much detail as you can — what you were doing, what you expected, and what happened instead — and we'll look into it.
